When you burn out a parking light bulb the amber indicator automatically takes its place, US market corner light-style.

If it wasn’t for the massive warning light in the dash, I’d pull both out and keep the corner lights.

The real mystery is, what happens if a turn signal bulb burns out?

It has to be used to be able to burn out.

they sure have awesome little quirks.

my e39 touring’s signal blinks twice as fast on the dashboard when a signal bulb burns  out.

That’s normal behavior. On older cars it happened as a consequence of the load on the turn signal circuit changing. Newer cars emulate this behavior because some people expect it. This is why you can’t just swap in LED turn signals, the lower power draw will make them flash too quickly.

That happens with the E39s too.

My halo lights are working, but I think the connection is lose.

Not sure what to do there.... :/

Brake lights will do that too. It’ll use the emergency brake light as the regular brake light if it burns out. Pretty awesome IMO, I hate being behind someone with burnt tails/brake lights.
